Heart of Essex Chorus is an organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize and have fun. We currently have singers of all ages, all walks of life and from all parts of Windsor and Essex and surrounding areas.
Performance
Our main purpose is to get out and perform for our community. We sing at retirement homes, birthday parties, CWL and many special events. We are especially busy during the Christmas Season harmonizing for an audience.
Education
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of acapella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsal, and a very important component of the chorus experience. Often throughout the year we have coaching from a visiting faculty in the art of barbershop and find these sessions to be beneficial and exciting as we continue to strive for a professional image.
Competition
Each spring our Chorus takes part in the Region 2 Chorus and Quartet competition. It is a great opportunity for us to share a weekend of harmony with over 700 women from Southern Ontario and parts of Michigan. A panel of qualified Sweet Adeline International judges review, give constructive feedback and score our performance in 4 difference categories being sound, music, showmanship and expression. Heart of Essex Chorus places in the top tier of the small chorus division.
