Heart of Essex Chorus is an organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize and have fun. We currently have over 25 singers of all ages, all walks of life and from all parts of Windsor and Essex and surrounding areas. Our hospitality room at regional competition is themed each year and as you can see we really get into the spirit~~
Performance
Our main purpose is to get out and perform for our community. We sing at retirement homes, birthday parties, CWL and many special events. We are especially busy during the Christmas Season, harmonizing for an audience in such wonderful places as St. Annes Church in Tecumseh and during our Christmas Carol Bus Tour.
Education
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of acapella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsal, and a very important component of the chorus experience. Often throughout the year we have coaching from a visiting faculty in the art of barbershop and find these sessions to be beneficial and exciting as we continue to strive for a professional image.
Competition
Each spring our Chorus takes part in the Region 2 Chorus and Quartet competition in Dearborn Michigan. It is a great opportunity for us to share a weekend of harmony with over 700 women from Southern Ontario and parts of Michigan. A panel of 8 qualified Sweet Adeline International judges review, give constructive feedback and score our performance in 4 difference categories being sound, music, showmanship and expression. There are approximately 23 contestants and for the past 5 years the Heart of Essex Chorus achieved a top 3 placing for small chorus'. The first place champion chorus is invited to compete in the worldwide International competiton. The 2019 International champions was Rönninge Show Chorus from Rönninge, Sweden.
